Today is the full moon in Libra, and Thursday, the day of Jupiter. I would love to do a ritual or spell, specifically one for luck, abundance, and life’s pleasures, but I have little time due to work and family. And I’m sure a lot of you can relate.
I long for the days in college where my free time was ample, between classes and a quiet restaurant job. Practicing witchcraft and meditating and taking care of my spiritual health was easy. Although I will admit, some areas of study leave even college students with little time to practice.
Today I am booked with meetings and tasks for work, and once my work is over, my one-and-a-half-year-old niece will want my attention (and I will want to give it to her). Playtime at the park while her parents work, and then spending quality time with my long-distance significant other once he wakes up (time zone differences) leave little space for more than a quick spell.
That’s the solution many people give to those of us who are busy busy bees – and I believe I’ve given this advice as well: embed magic into everyday life. A shower becomes a cleansing ritual, food because a spell, blowing on dandelions with the children make wishes come true…
And I still believe in this advice and practice it often. But gosh, it really does suck when you want to do something bigger, something grander, and time it with astrological movements (if that’s something you’re into). What do you do then?
First off, if you’re someone who doesn’t want a solution but simply wants validation, I give it to you.
I feel you. Sometimes all the solutions in the world don’t fix that you simply don’t have time for a beloved hobby or spiritual practice, even if the things we’re doing instead bring us joy. It’s tough. And I hope we both have some downtime sometime soon to work something beautiful and magical.
But if you’re wanting a tip or two, here’s what I’ve got this time: plan for passive spells.
Especially when it comes to the full moon, where things are usually charged with intention or cleansed, there’s a lot of things you can plan ahead to do. Make a spell sachet or write your manifestations on a piece of paper, then let it charge in the moonlight the day of. This allows you to put things together slowly, when you do have time, and then use the full moon or the sun to charge and activate and do the magic for you on your busier days.
I’ve definitely put together salt baths or bath bombs ahead of schedule to then take thirty minutes to soak in the tub the night of the full moon with some spa music playing.
I love this advice- planning ahead and using small things throughout the day to make it magical. When my schedule becomes busy during the full and new moons I like to do my rituals the day before or after the moon is at it‘s peak. This allows a 3 day window to be able to work the her energy.
